1985-1990 State Cinema Institute of Moscow (VGIK). Master in Arts,
with emphasis in Acting in Cinema and Theater.
ACTIVITIES:
1979-1984 During her studies in Conservatorio Castella she takes part
in 14 theater plays.
1984 Participation in the street theater group ”La Trama”.
1986-199O Acts in 15 theater plays during the residence in the State Cinema Institute of Moscow (VGIK).

In 1992, Ishtar Yasin founded the company of independent theater TEATRO AMBAR.
Since its foundation she has written, co-directed and acted in the following productions:
1992- “Noche Cadabra” (Cadabra Night) a play about the femenine identity throughout history
1994 “Agonice con elegancia” (Dying with elegance) a comedy about domestic violence.
1995 “Oración de Tierra” (Earth Prayer) a work and the life of the Cuban artist Ana Mendieta.
-1996 “Árbol de la esperanza” (Tree of hope) a production about the life and the work of the mexican artist Frida Kahlo,
1997 “¿Me entiende?” (Do you understand me?) a work based in interviews of people in the drug world. It was written with the support of a Workshop Scholarsip of the Minister of Culture of Costa Rica.
With this shows, Teatro Ambar travels widely throughout Costa Rican. Cultural Centers, Educational Centers, Universities and International Festivals and Theaters of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, México, U.S.A, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Denmark.
In 1994 she founds the theater group SALAMANDRA and is the art director of the following productions:
“Escenas de Brecht” (Scenes of Brecht), dramatic construction with texts of the German playwright Bertold Brecht.
“Vendrá” (It will come), dramatic text with poems about death
”¡Hasta Cuando!” (Until when!), dramatic text with biblic characters.
“Los fantoches” y “El sueño de un ángel” (The puppets and The dream of the angel) of the Guatemalan playwright Carlos Solorzano.
”Ánimas” (Souls) dramatic construction with texts of William Shakespeare.
In 1998 she founds Astarte Productions, an audiovisual production society.
The same year she writes the script of “El Juego de la inocencia” (The game of the innocence) and she makes the video “Jaulas” (Cages)
In 1999 she writes and directs the short film in 35mm “Florencia de los Ríos Hondos y Los Tiburones Grandes”. (Florencia of the Deep Rivers and the Big Sharks).
She writes and directs the documentary “La bomba de cobalto” (The cobalt bomb).
The short film “Florencia de los Ríos Hondos y los Tiburones Grandes” takes part in International Festivals in Denmark, México, France, Spain, Moscow, U.S.A., Switzerland, Italy, etc.
In 2005 she writes and directs the interdisciplinary work “Los que pintan el cielo” (Those who paint the sky), which is shown in the National University of Costa Rica.
Since the year 2000 she starts the development of the project of the feature film “El Camino”
The project was selected in 2002 en the Manheim Meetings and obtained the support of Fonds Sud Cinema.
El Camino was awarded with a scholarship in the Center of Scriptwriting CECI in Normandie, France . It also obtained two awards in the program of Films in Progress in the International Film Festival of Guadalajara, Mexico.
AWARDS:
1986 First place in the National Acting Contest,“Pushkin”, Moscú.
1994 National Theater Award, for the production “Agonice con elegancia”(Dying with elegance) Costa Rica.
1997 National Dramatic Art Award by the National Theater Company of Costa Rica for the production “Tirimancias”.
1998 Award to the best cinematographic script “Florencia de los ríos hondos y los tiburones grandes” by the Center of Cinema Production in Costa Rica
and the Women Institute Instituto de la Mujer.
2000 Best photography Award for the short film“Florencia de
los Ríos Hondos y los Tiburones Grandes” in the Costa Rican Film Festival.
In 2008, after seven years of hard work, her first long feature film, “ El Camino” (”The Path”) finally sees the light. At the moment of his completion, it was just the fifteenth film in costarican history and the first long feature work, in 35 mm, made by a Central American woman.
